I was out and about in the city yesterday for another spin through one of my favorite places to score amazing finds!
The Salvation Army is pretty much a weekly ritual for me because you never know what you're going to find. This weekend, there was so much great furniture in stock! Now I don't need anything myself, but…
…my friend Austin has been looking for something inexpensive to hold all her servingware in her new apartment and this would be perfect! It's a 1950s Drexel modern sideboard and when I saw it, I nearly fell over it was so pretty. And in such great condition too! Austin's style is pretty eclectic—a great mix of old and new, traditional and modern—so I called her up and told her to meet me right away!
When Austin got there, she absolutely loved it! The simple lines and warm wood tones would be perfect in her place. All that storage too is going to be so great for all her big serving pieces and stacks of linens. But that's not the only thing I found, so be sure to check back Monday for the full scoop!
That is an amazing piece of furniture. You have inspired us – we need to check out Goodwill and the Salvation Army! We are in search of some pieces very similar to one you found. If you ever want to come to Austin, Texas, we’d love to go shopping with you!!
Shopping with you would be a slice of heaven! Come to N.C.!!!!
OMG what a beautiful piece of furniture. I can hardly wait to see what else you found. I’m thinking of going this afternoon. Wish me luck.
what a wonderful find! i just found a cabinet as well on good ol’ craigslist that i am super excited about.
I can’t wait to see how the sideboard looks once you’re finished with it! I am excited to see what else you found this weekend.
Nice piece!
The Salvation Army in Woodside/Queens has a full set of faux bamboo furniture (desk, hutch, dressers) if you know of anyone on the hunt for that style. At least they did on Saturday morning, might have been scooped up by now.
can anyone tell me the location of this particular salvation army in manhattan? it looks better than the one i’m used to frequenting…
You would have LOVED the yard sale I went to yesterday morning. The guy is a florist and decorator. I wrote about it on my blog (and refrerenced you!).
Eddie, I went to our local Good Will after last week’s post. Alas, nothing. But…Salvation Army is on this week’s to-do list. You must inform your stalkers (I mean, fans!), when you go on a road trip. The respective patrons of that city will pay $$$ to go shopping with you!
We must see it in it’s place at Austin’s house! What a great find!! 🙂
Oohh. What a lucky friend!! Can’t wait to see what else you found. I’m getting off early from work tomorrow just so that I can visit our local SA.
Eddie,
You had great luck at the SA. Can’t wait for your before and after for the 1970s chairs. Who knew the corn on the cob pics were in vouge. I use them every Summer weekend at the beach condo for Maryland’s Silver Queen Corn!
eddie,
you melt my heart. come to az and i’ll take you antiquing, wild wild west style.
