A bright new year is about to begin, everyone, so why not ring it in with style? First, I have a quick, easy hors d'oeuvre so elegant and good, your guests will swoon! So much so, in fact, they might even ask who catered the party! That's when you smile demurely, raise a gorgeous glass of my favorite prosecco cocktail and say, "No, darling, I made them myself."
Enjoy the video, everyone, and Happy 2009! Jaithan and I have lots of great stuff in store for January, so we're taking a little time to get things in order. See you back on Monday, the 5th!
In the meantime, how do you plan to DID you celebrate the New Year? Let's hear about it!

Its summer here in Australia so our New years is tonightand it will be a turkey (we did not do one for Christmas so we are not “turkeyed out!” ) on the BBQ , a aussie pavlova for dessert (strawberries and passionfruit ontop) and champagne cocktails to me and beer for my hubby – of course. Cheers! Here’s another recipe for 2009: a smattering of flea markets, using everything you own (best silver, etc.) AND blogs by Eddie & Jaithan! Thanks for adding zest to 2008 and cannot wait for the new year…
Happy New Year. My cute, single son and I are going to meet in Las Vegas as we do every holiday season, usually Christmas night or New Years night. We stay at the Bellagio and get a room where we can watch the fountains below. Before you say it’s too expensive, let me say that it’s free. I save American Express gold points all year and spend them always at the Bellagio in Vegas. It is my favorite hotel in the world. They treat me like royalty even though my stay is on AMX points.
Love you guys and the blog is stupendous. Nobody in the world can do flowers and a table, and just about everything else decorative as well as Eddie and Jaithan. I’m a great and avid fan. Barb Nieder

Happy New Year Eddie and Jaithan!!! I am staying home and grouting a bathroom floor…how exciting is that!
I loved the video and I will be making that cocktail tomorrow for guests. It sounds and looks wonderful. I have plenty of piping bags from my Wilton Class, thanks for the great idea! Mary
Guys, thank you so much for the lovely kind wishes.
I’m marking the pass of year with a quiet stay at home. Perhaps i call my mom, or my good friend Devin. Though people seem to be out and about on a day like this.
Nonetheless, you’ve brightened my day.
Happy New Year Eddie & Jaithan!
Thank you so much for enriching our lives with your artistic and decorative talents. My decorative arts world has expanded thanks to you. Looking forward to learning more from you both in 2009. Ma le ava ma e tatau ai.

We went to the Metropolitan Opera and then to a late dinner at Les Halles. Wonderful evening.
Happy New Year!
I made the prosecco cocktail on New Year’s Eve for my husband, my parents and I. We all thoroughly enjoyed it–made the evening seem more special by far. I would love to find some ofthe round crystal glasses that you have. Must be vintage…what do you call that style of glass so I can do an ebay search? Thanks!

Enjoyed your video, your New Years cocktail party is fit for a queen, unfortunately this one doesn’t drink alcohol but she does eat patae.
On New Years day two of my four children and their families will gather at our home for a feast of spicy jambolaya, game playing and football.
Happy New Years Eddi and thank you for sharing your talents and enthusaism this past year.
Yum! Now if I could just have a small serving on one (or a stack) or those beautiful ironstone platters in your cupboard there…and then I’ll take them home and wash them for you, wouldn’t want to trouble you with that…I SWEAR I’ll bring them back! Honest (fingers crossed).
I posted some hors d’oeuvre recipes as well on my blog; Picadillo Wellingtons, cranberry salsa, and a phenomenal savory cheesecake. But then I just had to go shopping!!! See you again soon!
Happy New Year to you and Jaithan! Your cocktail sounds fabulous – we’ll give it a try. xo

Hi Eddie,
I just discovered you via Rhoda, love your blog.
Have fun with her next week.
Nice to meet you,
Kathy 🙂
Eddie – New Year’s at home, hors d’oeuvres extravaganza with family in the kitchen. Curried chicken pate, mini beef wellingtons, thai satays, balsamic roasted mini peppers, etc. Time-consuming, special, warm and delicious. Love all your ideas as always, and keep up your wonderful sharing in 2009!
Happy New Year to you and Jaithan.
What a wonderful presentation. I wish I’d seen it before I did the chicken liver paté mold for the buffet. New Year’s Eve is our anniversary. Seventy new and returning friends pulled out the evening clothes and helped us usher in another happy year.
Ohhh the cocktail looks wonderful. I will have to try that at my next get together.
My New Years Eve was spent driving from South Carolina to San Fransico. We got in about 3pm. I was in bed by 9pm satyed up long enough to ring in the new year east coast time 🙂
Take care and best wishes for a wonderful 20089!!
I made my own version of Prosecco cocktails, using Blackberries, Blackberry Izze Soda. I love the idea of the sugar on the rim.
