It's been a whirlwind few days here on the farm, so forgive us for the time away! Both Jaithan and I have just been so busy with the store, hosting our dear friends Seleta and Peter for the weekend, as well as various projects, including a spring-inspired dining room I'm doing for the New Orleans Home & Garden Show this weekend. Much more on that tomorrow! In the meantime, here's a little recap of the flea market shopping trip with all our fun, new friends who came out to see us at the Rose Bowl this month.

It really was such a great group of people! And the weather—sunny and warm, perfect for all that digging we did together.
One booth had an especially good assortment of vintage furniture and lighting. In fact, as soon as I saw this pair of gorgeous Hollywood Regency lamps, I knew I wanted to point them out to the group. To start, they were such a great scale and that blue was so spectacular—very Dorothy Draper. A good clean was all they needed, I told the group, and perhaps even the addition of a Lucite base, just to update them a bit. These I could see on a mirrored console in a living or dining room or on either side of a bed upholstered in luxurious hot pink silk. Oh, and the price? $100 for the pair.
At that price, it didn't take long for one of the group, Deanna Nash, to buy them up! I can't wait to see what she does with them!
If Dorothy Draper did the lighting, Frank Sinatra stocked the bar! Check out these super stylish cocktail glasses Christina Murphy of Paisley Petunia picked up.
Very Rat Pack in Palm Springs, no?
Even Jaithan found a little something along the way. Love these vintage Lucite grapes for the coffee table!
For the full photo album, including plenty more finds from the Rose Bowl, click here. And now that good weather is finally upon us, we're gearing up for a full season of fantastic flea marketing! This time, we want to plan for the rest of the year, everyone, and we need your help! What are your favorite flea markets you'd like us to visit?
I was flipping out…….. where the H…….. were you? it seemed like forever. I missed you as no doubt all your faithful FANS did.
Can’t wait to hear what you both have been up too.
You need to inspire us………..Lolita
What are your favorite flea markets you’d like us to visit?
That’s what I want to know! I went to the Georgetown Flea market this weekend and wandered around. I don’t know what I’m doing and am going to beg you to come to DC to help me out!
I’ve only been there once, but I love that flea market, and dream of going there again someday. Looks like you guys had a fab time!
Please, Eddie, Brimfield in July. Yes, it will be hot, but I’ll be out of the country during May and September.
Ya’ll need to come to Warrenton, Marburger Farms, and Round Top in Texas. The fun starts this weekend.
Twice a year, the first weekend(ish) in April and October. Come on down for bellinis and bargains!
You know everything really is bigger in Tejas!
Thanx for all you share on your blog.
I think that you should visit Buffalo, not because it’s cream of the crop, but because it’s where I am – and the prices here can not be beat! You’d be very surprised what you can find things for at flea markets here. There’s a Sunday Flea Market every 1st Sunday of the Month, I think they call it a garage sale … but it’s at the grounds at Antique World. I know Western NY is basically Calcutta – but we could all learn from your great style! 🙂 Give it a thought – the drive from Buffalo to West Chester is only 6 hours – and beautiful through the Catskills.
Hi Eddie!
Your blog is amazing and inspiring! I live in suburban Philadelphia, and a great place to visit is Adamstown, PA. They have 2 big outdoor flea mkts., Rennigers and Shupps Grove, and a great little indoor co-op called the Heritage Antique Center. All 3 are minutes apart. Please visit this summer!
Jeanine
I am so thrilled you and Jaithan are enjoying your new life and the opportunities it brings. I am sure you had a fab time with Seleta!
The Santa Fe Flea Market on the grounds of the Santa Fe Opera, every weekend during the summer . . . fabulous! And, you’re surrounded by more fabulous: the town, the shops, the art, the food, the mountains, the pueblos, the very air is so . . . Santa Fe! Ahhhhhhh!
Lynn in New Mexico
Love the Rosebowl. We used to go early in the morning with flashlights to try to beat Rachel Ashwell to all the good finds!
Please come to Charlotte, NC — the big Metrolina Flea Market!
Great recap! It was such a fun day!!
Here was our post on the day:

hi Eddie, so good to see that you had a great time at the rosebowl. would love for you to come up north to the Alameda Flea market. You have been missed around blog land.So much to do in your life right now.Remember,”Enjoy the Process”. hugs, kathysue
Oh, how I miss the Pasadena flea market! I hope you made time to visit the Huntington Library while you were in town! Lunch in their tea room is a must!
Love the Lucite grapes too!
DC is a quick hop, skip & a jump away from the city (i should know, being a jersey shore girl!) Within DC there are several weekend markets, my favorite being Eastern Market. The weekend outdoor flea market always brings fun & new things – there are different vendors on Saturday & Sunday, so you gotta shop both days!
If you have any desire to come to Florida there is a great Flea Market “Extravaganza” in Mt. Dora several times a year. I believe the next one is in November so plenty of time to plan (and it won’t be so damn hot down here then either).
Tiffany
We had a lovely day with you guys….thanks you two!
I’m another vote for the Mt. Dora Flea Market “Extravaganza” in Florida! It’s incredible!
You need to come to Canton First Monday Trade Days in Texas. I live only 40 min north of there. Oh and the grapes…I’d say those were the ones I remember my mother making at the craft store in the 1960s but hers were harvest gold! I still remember the smell of the resin!! Thanks for the memory jolt! Looks like ya’ll had a great time!
Thanks for the link to http://www.paisleypetunia.com, Eddie & Jaithan. We had such a great time with you and learned so much. Can’t wait to go back to the Rose Bowl!
The Ocean Grove (NJ) Giant Flea Market — twice a year, May 30 and Sept 12 this year. Kick-off coffee on my porch. 🙂
Great finds at the Rose Bowl…I just looked at all the photos…what is that fabulous silver dome thingie you’ve got in one of the pics?
Come to Canton. Please give plenty of notice! I’ve got to make the 2.5 hour drive but I will. Oh, Eddie, Texas needs you!!! C’mon down. Yiiippppeeeeiiiiiiaaaa.
I honestly don’t know what flea market – but would be a kid in a candy store if you came to chicago. I would totally make the 3 hour trek to get there. =)
Wow I can’t believe those grapes were sitting in some sale waiting to be picked up for a song!! So lucky – well I’m clear you create your luck Eddie. Haven’t seen a post from you in a while so I decided to comment on this one.
Hope you are well!
xo
Maria
That looked like great fun Eddie. That is a great flea market and I had a serious overload of way too many cool thing to see, and not enough eye balls to do so 🙂 What else did you guys get there besides the very chic grapes?

The Elephant’s Trunk Flea Market on Route 7 in New Milford Ct is about ready to open for the Season on April 1st. It runs through Oct or Nov and it’s every Sunday morning. If you get there early before 7 in the morning you pay 20 dollars for first dibs. After that it’s a mere 2 dollars and the finds can be fabulous or not. But it’s a stroll down memory lane for this baby bloomer!
Hi eddie and jaithan!
pictures soon of the great turquoise lamps – I’m almost done spiffing them up!
I had so much fun with you both on the flea market trip – thanks again for a great day.
and thanks for the link to my website!

deanna
Eddie I am hoping you are doing a trip to your 2 NYC flea markets at the end of April!
Kane County outside Chicago…a great flea market (and killer food)…flea market by day, Chicago by night, tres fun! PS-Love your blog, stalk it, never rock it (with a comment) until now-…
First Monday Canton Texas!!! Open Thursday – Sunday the weekend prior to the first Monday of the month. http://www.firstmondaycanton.com/
Love those grapes!! They were the living end in the 60s. My mother had some gold ones on the piano. Come to DC and hit the Georgetown flea market. I bought a fab chandiler there for $120. Eastern Market is nice too, and you can get a great southern breakfast.
OK, so you totally need to do VOLO outside of Chicago!! 🙂 Dave & I & Christian are heading there this summer so you guys have to come!!
xoxo,
lauren
Thanks for the pics! I am going to steal the idea of adding lucite to the bottom of lamps to update them. I found a similiar pair in yellow and will use them in a bedroom and kept thinking they were just now right, now I know why! Thanks again!
Being selfish, I really would love for you to do one near me! I did have some good luck last Summer on the North Fork – bought a book “Found Style” for a buck and a fun dinner at the “Frisky Oyster.
The book “Found Style” so reminds me of you. You have a knack for bringing style to what ever you find!
Also – love for you to come to see “Kyuit” and “Stone Barns” nearby.
I would be happy to be your guide.
We really enjoyed our Rose Bowl experience… especially getting the chance to meet you both! As a designer when I showed my client my flea market finds she was most delighted because they had the “Eddie Ross aura” stamped upon them! So I think an annual Rose Bowl trip should be scheduled by you two!! Thanks again guys.
Rich (the mirror man!)
Try Renninger’s Extravaganza in Kutztown, PA, also in Adamstown. I think the next one is some time in April with 2 more following, I believe June & September. An easy drive for you from NY……Suzie.
love the grapes! i have some in amber:)
Eddie – My husband just got back from New Orleans and he went to Magazine Street for me and took pictures. Check out my 3/23 post – http://www.mynottinghill.blogspot.com
Get in touch with Valorie of Visual Vamp and she’ll suggest even more places to shop. You’ll see at the bottom of my post my husband ate at Jacque Imo’s and loved it.
Hi Eddie & Jaithan! Looks like you had a fabulous time! I’m headed to Round Top next week…wouldn’t that be a fun destination for your flea market tour?
I know I already left a similar comment, but maybe you’ll let me post it again for your readers to check out my Rose Bowl finds from a few years back:

Thanks! Martha
Hi Eddie–We lived in LA for ten years (moved back East 11 years ago) and I was a frequent visitor to the Pasadena Rose Bowl and the Pasadena Community College flea markets. Most of the big pieces and lots of my china, fabric, artwork etc in our home come from these two fleas…but we’ve supplemented them with lots of fun finds from Rowley MA’s Todd Farm (an hour northish of Boston). Come check out Todd Farm before developers buy up the beautiful land it’s held on!
If you are in the San Francisco Bay Area, here is a good one. Everything must be at least 20 years old…no reproductions allowed. http://www.antiquesbybay.com/ It’s held once a month, the second Sunday of every month!
Ohhh, makes my heart long for home! I plan at least one trip each year over a second sunday just to go to the Rose Bowl! Seeing all the DC comments above…I’d love to know if there is something in the greater DC area that is not Eastern Market or Georgetown. Oh they are enjoyable and convenient, but too edited. Few opportunities to dig through to find the diamond in the rough. Do you know of any others within a couple hours drive of DC?
Kane County Flea Market just outside Chicago is a blast! Just imagine how much fun it would be with you & Jaithan!
I did Clignancourt today – am in Paris for a few days. Sadly, it has become unreasonably priced. Things that I paid $50 in the past are now $350. Even if you can negotiate stuff down, it’s over the top. Still, I did manage to snag a good linen tablecloth (30euros) and an interesting old equestrian book (3euros).
Still waiting for you to grace our area but you are off to New Orleans, and skipping the cherry blossoms (which are being drenched at the moment, by the way). But we await you.
Divine blog!

I had such an amazing time at the rose bowl with you guys…thanks again!
xoxo Aline
I posted photos on my blog today from the San Francisco Bay Area Flea Market that I left you a comment about earlier. Its called Antiques by the Bay. It’s huge!
It’s held the first Sunday of every month (I think I may have said the second Sunday in my previous comment).
Eddie:
How was your antiquing in New Milford on Sunday.I’m the chatty girl you met while you were looking, you gave me your card and what a great card it is.Did you get that beautiful mirror.Yours truly Jean
Eddie It looks like ya’ll had so much fun and found lots and lots of goodies!
