Ours weren’t the only events
to hit Kansas City last week. Try nine inches of snow, the messy kind that
comes down fast and melts even faster. Still, Jaithan and I leave happy as can
be. Our table for
DIFFA is up, a
spring-inspired vision of blue and white and a sparkling tribute to twenty
years of
Dining By Design.

The damask linen for the tablecloth comes courtesy of our friends at Calico Corners (pattern Surat in color Porcelain), but more on that later. Our table will be at Halls Plaza,
front and center in the jewelry rotunda for a month, so if you’re in town, definitely check it out. The other
event we did brought together the crafty types among us for
an afternoon
workshop and cocktail party
, sponsored by our friends at Creative Candles and
Factory Direct Craft. Thanks to them, thirty readers, like Becky from Prairie Village, went home happy, toting
hand blown hurricanes, etched with their monograms.

Plenty more pictures of both
events to come, I promise, just as soon as we catch our breaths. At the moment,
however, we’re 30,000 feet in the air, somewhere over Colorado I think, bound
for California and the whirlwind of
WestWeek, LA’s biggest design event of the
year.

OverColorado

Originally, we'd been planning to return to New York after Kansas City. Then our friend Terri with La Dolfina and her husband Chris
extended a glorious invite to their place in Palm Springs, so before we head
out to the desert, we’re hitting up WestWeek and its slew of seminars, book
signings and parties. Most of them will be at the Pacific Design Center and are open to the public!

Westweek 2010

On Wednesday at 11 a.m., there’s a panel discussion that Margaret
Russell from
ELLE DECOR is moderating, which includes our friend Patricia from
Mrs. Blandings, so we’ll definitely show our support for that. Did you happen to catch
the recap of the
Big Window Challenge we won (thanks to you) in this month's issue?

I love that we share space on the page with one of our closest friends in the business, artist and antiques dealer Deborah Buck, owner of the enchanting Buck House, now at its new location on Madison and 93rd in New York.

Here we are at the Big
Window Challenge
party at Furniture on 5 with Margaret and Deborah, along with Matthew Talomie, Advertising Director of ELLE DECOR.

And here we are at an intimate celebration dinner that Margaret hosted, together with Deborah, Matthew, Patricia and good friends Lauren and Dave from Pure Style Home.

So bear with us, everyone! There’s plenty of inspiration and eye candy to come, and in the meantime, follow me on Twitter for all the insider reporting from WestWeek…
