We've been at the beach, enjoying a few days off and visiting with friends whose house we helped redo. Do you remember the budget makeover in the living room, published in Country Living? With simple upgrades and smart shopping, we took it from Brady Bunch…
…to beachy chic.
Here's a quick arrangement of fresh-cut flowers from the garden to brighten your weekend.
Back shortly with another makeover, published in the first on-stand issue of The Nest!
WOW, I am speechless! Absolutely stunning!
Oh, I adore fresh-cut flowers! They just smell extra pretty, and to me, are extra special!

P.S. I’m so happy you added Innkeeper from Inspired by Charm. He’s a blogging favorite of mine. You must visit his B&B sometime in person – you’ll be in heaven. And his jams -TO DIE FOR!

Loved this makeover, Hydrangeas are a favorite. I have some gorgeous white hydrangeas with ferns in my cobalt blue window box. Oh so pretty. Glad to see you got away for some R&R at the beach, perfection xo Kathysue
Just fantastic! So many details to catch the eye! 50 million percent improvement! …no offense to Carol 😉
Those are just beautiful Eddie!!! I will think of them when I need a pretty thought today while looking after my patients at the hospital!
Cheers,
Cindy
Wow, those hydrangeas are breath taking!Mine are on the wane now, so sad!

Love it! xx
A little bit of paint goes a LONG way! Can’t wait to see The Nest. Hope you had a great vacation. –Gretchen
WOW! Enjoyed seeing the transformation, I had not seen this before, how wonderful! Looking forward to your feature in The Nest!
A few days at the beach sounds like a beautiful thing! And I’m going to dig through my stack of Country Living mags to check out that article again. Have a great Sunday!
ADORE hydrangeas, especially the blue and white. ♥ Thanks for sharing!
Of course I remember this…one of my tear sheets (and those fab lamps from Homegoods)
Aaah that sounds so lovely.. Can’t wait for the beach season to start here in Sydney. We’re still in Winter, though the Magnolia trees are in full bloom – a sure sign of Spring approaching! Yay!
The make over is brilliant. Colour in all honour, but Canary yellow in that quantity is enough to send just anyone up the walls.. Love the ‘after picture’ – looks fresh, clean and airy. Also think the shade of pale blue in the back of the bookcase is fantastic!
Hope you have a great end to the weekend and an exciting week ahead.
x Charlotta
Of course I remember that before and after!! You did such a beautiful job updating the room. Love the arrangement too. Enjoy your time at the beach!
E & J, I’m STILL lovin’ that makeover! The beach is the BEST for a little vacay, glad you had fun! Love the hydrangeas, they are one of my faves too. If you have a second, check out this post of a couple pics of my hydrangeas I snapped. http://whimages.blogspot.com/2010/06/blog-post.html
Yay, I’m glad you made it to the beach!!!
SUPER excited to see another one of your makeovers AND in The Nest no less!! Can’t wait! ~Tracy
p.s. I know you were on Top Design, but have you been following Design Star at all?
love blue and white, that room looks so fresh! great job.
I’m so happy you are getting some much deserved R&R with your friends at the beach.
I love blue and white hydrangeas. I’ve decided to introduce some succulent arrangements into my whit roses and multi-colored hydrangea landscaping. Check out my recent posts on my talented friend Debbie’s succulent garden and what she just created for me.
Miss you both so much but happy to know you are enjoying your summer.
Much love,
Terri
Loverly!

So excited to see your work in The Nest! So glad you’ve been able to enjoy some time at the beach!!!

Fabulous transformation! I hope you guys had a great time. You deserve the break.
Eddie: I’ve always loved hydrangeas: used to think they were just a little too “old person” looking, but oh, how wrong I was! Now they are one of my favorites. See my post, from our new house in North Carolina, and see how these pink flowers have changed color through the season! http://bit.ly/9hvBTI
I actually love this grayed, neutral kind of look….but you have to wait til the season is well over to get it!
Hope you’re enjoying the summer! Libby
Lovely, Eddie. I remember being awed by the amazing bargain on the sofa. Blue and white–always right!
Beautiful hydrangeas. Mine bloomed this year for the first time…must be all that el nino rain. wonder what la nina will bring to our gardens? love the makeover and thanks for the link to The Nest…it’s abuot time we had a new shelter (sort of) magazine on the stands.
We are thinking of buying a beach house in Galveston. I am already browsing through some of your photos for ideas and inspiration!
“Here’s the story, of a…..”

What a great transformation! Really shows how much difference colour makes.
Happy Monday!
Holding my breath for another fab makeover by the two of you!!

I absolutely love this room! The white backdrop with pops of different shades of blue and hot pink is just gorgeous. I would love to have a room like this one day! I just returned from Cape Cod and I am in blue hydrangea withdrawal. I think I need some fresh flowers in our apartment ASAP!
Love that makeover. And I have that white lamp from TJ Maxx in my dining room. Hydrangeas have long been a favorite of mine. Since I didn’t have any to snip, I just bought a blue bunch at Trader Joe’s for $5. Fresh flowers instantly freshen a room!
Wow – amazing what some white paint can do. Quite the transformation! And I love how we can see how you reused and repurposed some of their existing furniture.
That is one of those brilliant makeovers where you literally feel like the room has been SAVED 🙂 Love it!
Lovely transformation you have achieved. It’s always so nice to have fresh flowers in your house, it just refreshes your mind.
