How cool is this old postcard from 1912 with prize-winning pumpkins from the Interstate Fair in Trenton?
We found it at our friend Marge's shop Artifacts Gallery, where we did our very first blog post back in 2008! Speaking of "some pumpkins," we're heading down that way for two fall workshops tomorrow and Friday night at terrain, just outside Philadelphia. There are still a few spots left, and we'd love to see you! If you liked the flowers I did in the gilded pumpkin for the Lonny table this month, you won't be disappointed!
I love this image! The colors are perfectly fall… the dark purple is a great addition to this palette!

Fabulous colors in the postcard!
I LOVE that old postcard…
Love that postcard. Need to hit the flea markets in NYC again. Enjoy Philadelphia.
Your travel schedule looks exhausting! -Wendy
I just love your work and that postcard was a great find! I just bought some green and white pumpkins to go with my Cinderella pumpkins. Now to see if I can halfway copy a little something you did on one of your posts. Have a wonderful workshop this weekend!
It is very fab….xv
Wow, 1912!! I saw the post card time and again to see the colros and everything about it!!
<3
very cool indeed – love all the colour tones! KG
Wish I were closer!!

Great postcard! Looks like it was a b/w card that was colorized – love that look, but perhaps it looks different in real life. My mother knew how to do it with q-tips (pre photoshop of course). Loved the whole table in the Lonny spread – orange and blue is one of my favorite color combinations!
That spot at terrain has my name on it — only problem? The body attached to the name is firmly planted in Massachusetts 🙁 Love this old post card. And hello, that gilded pumpkin? You really do outdo yourself!
How I wish I was close enough to be there. No one loves pumpkins more than me! LOL Can’t wait to see what you make with the noble fruit of fall!
And you don’t look five minutes older than in 2008. I think your favorite season might be Fall?
How fun going back to your very first blog post. Can you believe it’s been two years? You were great from the start.
Isn’t Fall one of the best times of year! So fun to look back at your first blog post, I love the gilded pumpkin, so beautiful! Best of luck with your workshops, wish I could join in the fun.
Hi Eddie, do you have any more space for Sat Nov 6th in Charlotte at Metrolina? My sister and I would LOVE to join you!!!
I went last month and found a fabulous rattan sofa for $60 and a wonderful hexagon base with glass top table with 6 chairs that really seats 10 for $500! Needs some great paint color and new fabric for cushions but has great style. Would be thrilled to meet you!

You all are the kings of FAB! When are you traveling back down south? Miss you both!
Hugs and kisses,
Patt
Oh what a treat to learn how you did those gorgeous flowers in the gilded pumpkin! Hope it’s a wonderful trip!

Hey there Eddie!
The old post card of pumpkins is beautiful. I have posted a table that includes real pumpkins (as party favors) and Fitz and Floyd pumpkins in which to serve soup. If you would stop by and take a look, I would love it! Leave a comment! I am always thrilled to receive a comment from Eddie Ross!
Warmly,
CC

A postcard worth framing! Safe travels have a fun time among those pumpkins!
I soooo wish I could come to the event at Terrain and the lecture at Highpoint! If you have time at Highpoint stop by my showroom and say hello, IHFC-D319. Have fun in Philly!
Eddie, you are just killing me! It’s only about an hour away from me and none of the 6 people I’ve asked to come with me can. Because I have a very bad back, I really can’t come alone and I’m so SAD. Like you have no idea. I KNOW it’s going to be such an awesome time. So when you are having a wonderful sip of wine, think of me! LOL JK I know it’s going to be GREAT and the next time you are in the area, I am NOT going to miss it. Come H*ll or high water! 😉 Hey if you are not busy on Friday before the next event, I’d love to have you come down and I can take you to THE BEST JUNK/ANTIQUE shop owned by a horder you will ever find in your life! Lunch is on me to if it works out! 😉
I love the tinting on this old photo — nice find.
E+J- Does that postcard look like it was from a hand tinted black and white photo? Those colors are so beautiful! perfect for Fall!
Loretta
I can’t believe that is an old postcard! Proving there were exotic pumpkins way back when! Thanks for your lovely comment on my Autumn Tablescape. Looking forward to seeing what you do next.
You’re my inspiration! (WWED? – what would Eddie do?) ~Delores

Could have been taken this weekend when I was in the Berkshires. Who knew Big Y carried such gourd-ous local squash and such?!
Eddie, I love the postcard. What a great find!! Hope ya’ll have a fabulous time at your workshops. Can’t wait to start posting from my new home. Will have to change my bloggie spot name and everything. I’m moving from a cottage to a manor. Hope to see you if you come to Houston or Dallas or somewhere close. 😀

PS – Go SF Giants – Beat Philly! {had to say it!}
I love that old post card! I’ve been thinking about getting a pumpkin or large gourd, scooping out the insides and setting a mum in it…would that be too much for a breakfast table? I think it would be cute!! I wish I lived near your workshops! There is never anything fun like that in Texas!! So jealous of the lucky people getting to attend!
Lovely! I have my great great great Aunt’s old scrapbook that is filled with images like this. Thanks for reminding me that I need to scan it asap and share.
could you ever dissappoint :))? Have a great inspiring Sunday xox
Eddie- you are the coolest, let it be known and shout it out loud!
Can you PLEASE do a blog post “going to kinkos” etc about how to make wrapping paper from these old vintage postcards? I do not have super major martha stewart impressive printers or anything like that.
Thank you!!! follow me on twitter ! @sarah310
The pumpkins are wonderful. My neighbor has the most amazing display of giant pumpkins and gords in her yard — I may post a photo.
I just had a nice excursion at your — Oliver fabrics — what a great resource.
I am a big pumkin person and have a huge passion for witch stuff…. I am looking forward to seeing all your articles and advice. I am a Benjamin Moore Painter and Colour Consultant in Canada-
