Have you seen my cover of Woman's Day this month?
It's definitely not the magazine it used to be, as editor in chief Elizabeth Mayhew, former style director of Real Simple, continues to make smart changes to update its look. The splatter paint pumpkins on the cover are part of a story I produced with six festive centerpieces that will last all season long! They're simple but sophisticated crafts that don't look crafty. This wreath, for example, is made from construction paper and wheat, then finished with gold beads.
You can even tuck declarations of gratitude in each of the cones for Thanksgiving.
The pine cone arrangement I made with a striped metallic fabric cut out into leaves with a pinking shears.
The splatter paint pumpkins got the same solid gold treatment on the stems as they did in Lonny.
Remember the Indian Corn Centerpiece I made last year? Here's a shimmery version in copper tied with a modern velvet ribbon.
The pecan sphere I'd place on a mantle, a sideboard or even a foyer table as guests arrive for Thanksgiving. Swap out the color of the ribbon, and it's perfect for the holidays!
Another centerpiece that looks great all season long is a grouping of birch logs dipped in gold, then drilled for candles.
Back in a few days with all the behind the scenes!
i particularly love the pecan topiary … and you are killing me with all the taper candle display you are doing. stunning.
and the purple background everything is shot against is inspired. love it!
Dayum Guy! You make me want to create! Each of those is STELLAR…Congrats on the fab cover!
I’ve noticed it looks more up to date lately and I’ve always loved that magazine. I’l be picking up my copy at the store today, can’t wait to see all the eye candy!
Judy
I am running out and getting this mag! I usually pass it by but no longer will be able to with such great styling! Lovely elegant and simple decorations for Thanksgiving! I have to try the paint splattered pumpkins and that wreath is so special! Thanks!

Is there no end to your creativity?… Love all these ideas. I’ll have to pick up a copy of the mag next time I’m out grocery shopping.
They’re all great ideas but that pinecone display is my favorite! (splattered pumpkins are running a close second 🙂 ).
Beautiful Eddie — I just got the magazine and can’t wait to go through the whole thing. I love the eggplant color — at least that’s what it looks like to me. Always fun to see your creativity in action!
Such fabulous ideas! I’ll have to go & pick this issue of Woman’s Day up.
LOVE! The wreath is genius -those teeny pieces of wheat are wonderful! I used pinked fabric leaves for my autumn wreath too…great minds think alike. 😉 Well done, both Eddie & Women’s Day! 🙂
That pecan centerpiece is insane! You are an absolute genius.
I agree! Woman’s Day began mysteriously appearing in my mail slot. It gets better and better. Loved all of your touches!
-Rene
I ADORE that wreath! I mean how fantastic is that! Does not look like construction paper! I’m going to go have to pick up a copy!
Just love your blog! You are a great inspiration!
Jennifer
Such great ideas! I love the pumpkins and the log candle holder especially!
I love the contruction paper wreath and splatter pumpkins with gold – brilliant!
CONGRATULATIONS !!!! Jaithan & Eddie ya’ll are a great team………..your magazines are stacking up.
I don’t do crafty, at all. Adore choosing the silver, serving pieces, dishes, candlesticks. Centerpiece is something from the garden simply arrayed. Done.
Default centerpiece is a collection of ‘rescued’ rocks from around the world while traveling.
Odd to love creating the table but ZERO love for crafting.
Cleaning the, $(#^$&g, house? Terrible.
Playing in the garden? EPIPHANICAL joy, everytime.
Garden & Be Well, XO Tara
The wreath is just divine! I’m inspired…

Amazing as always, Eddie! It’s all gorgeous, but I have a soft spot for splatter paint – love it. Can’t wait to see the “behind the scenes version”.

I wish I had seen this little spread before Halloween because I love those splatter paint pumpkins with the gold stems! And, because we are in Canada, our Thanksgiving has already passed! I guess I will just have to wait until next year!
I love all of these ideas! I am going to have to run to the store to pick up a copy so I can make some centerpieces for my Thanksgiving table.
This year I re-watched your HGTV Halloween show from last year. I just loved your theme, especially with the clever food table with ham sliced right off the bone!
Wow Eddie these are all great, my favorite is the pecan sphere, that must have taken forever!!! Love that you are using gold this year, so fun!! Kathysue
I haven’t bought that magaizine inages. I will have to get a copy. I love how you made crafts that looks elegant and special. great job AGAIN!
Eddie!! Enough is enough! Get your butt to LA. Stat! I’ll plan fab drinks at great places, we can go to divine flea markets and sing the high graces of the best vintage spots all over the west! Keep me posted!! Ha! Just kidding!!! But I do hope you come to LA!

I was just browsing through our office copy of Woman’s Day over lunch today and thought these pages were definitely more chic than what I’ve seen in the past – should have known it was you!
Woman’s Day must be doing a Happy Dance now that they have you on board!
xo Cathy
This is off the charts! Splatter pumpkins – reminds me of the amazing window you did at Bloomingdales! Elizabeth Mayhew is definitely taking Woman’s Day in an amazing new direction!
xo E
I just picked up a copy of Woman’s Day because my mom is visiting and loves all the recipes. How exciting to see you in there! Love all that you did–especially the pine cone display centerpiece. I agree, the magazine looks better than ever!
I just got it but did not read it, but now I know why I loved the cover – brilliant!
Wild for that wreath! But it is all gorgeous. Lucky, lucky Woman’s Day to have you! Hugs and kisses! P
Read it all. Loved the pictures. Will subscribe now it isn’t the old magazine anymore. Thanks Eddie for the great cover and story.
OMG I have been ‘OHing’ and ‘WOWing’ and ‘YESing’ throughout this amazing post! Eddie I love all of these ideas, and needless to say the cover is delicious! The colours are perfect and your creations are just fantastic.
I am keeping this on file to use for Christmas – I can see how the white/gold/fushia (with the inclusion of Eucalyptus twigs) would look wonderful for a ‘tropical Xmas’ here in Sydney. Don’t you think.
If I manage to recreate any of this, I’ll post some pictures on the blog so that you can comment on your devoted ‘student’..! 🙂
Happy end of the week hugs to both you and J.

L*O*V*E the white pumpkins with golden stems and splatters! Just stunning!
YOU are the reason I subscribed to Woman’s Day! I love it. Now I will be hounding down my mailman until my issue comes, can’t wait to drool over it 🙂

Eddie you are so talented. I love the simple pinking sheared fabric leaves! Genius! Such original ideas, you are the one to watch.
Well, if they’ve got you designing a cover story for them, they ARE on the right track! I like the look of this new Woman’s Day and I love the beautiful Thanksgiving pieces you’ve included in it! As always, you’ve kept things fresh, simple, original and elegant. Big, big congrats to one of my very favorite designers!
Wow. You guys continue to outdo yourselves!
I’m not sure which one I like the best — maybe the pine cones, no the pecan ball, no the painted birch logs, no….oh forget it, I love them all. I am so inspired by what you do — to make a living on the cover of a magazine — a dream!
Congrats… amazing, amazing, amazing! Love it all, but the pincone arrangement is my fav.
xo,
cristin
LOVE the cover.
Like that you didn’t use a traditional red or orange color for the background, and the white pumpkins provide the perfect contrast.
Your work is always just beautiful!
xx
Love all of these ideas and will save this post. The gratitude wreath really reminds me of a wreath I made MANY years ago out of computer punch cards:):) I’m talking a LONG time ago!!!:)
Genius. I absolutely love everything you do.
Mama Mia! When I look at what you come up with – I feel that I was born with no “crafty” gene – whatsover. Absolutely amazing displays. I would love to try some of these project myself. The wreath is stunning.

I used to buy Women’s Day many many years ago. I will definitely pick up a copy on my next trip to the market. Looks so much better! It always had so many ads that it aggravated me!
Eddie…you have talent to spare and then some!!! These are all so creative and fresh, the “gratitude wreath” just about made me cry it’s such a beautiful idea. Can you imagine if having one at Thanksgiving was as traditional as turkey?? Just think what it would mean for families…I love it. I’ll pick up a copy asap.
Bless you and your talented big heart!

The wreath looks beautiful, Eddie. The geometric design looks radiant. I am interested in logo design and think it looks better than BP’s solar ‘sunburst’ logo which reported cost £4.6 million GBP!
Gourdgeous 😉 work! I really love how you use nature or re-furbished items in your designs!!!
Thanks for stopping by Currently Chic! What an honor. The cover for Women’s Day is fab!! I happened to see it while standing in the check-out line before I knew it was yours and thought, “Hmmm… Women’s Day is really stepping it up these days.” Seriously! I really thought that!

Stop back soon. I am always thrilled to hear from you all!

You are so talented, Mr. Ross!
(Is it appropriate to call you “Mr. Ross” when I am clearly older than you?)
Every creation seems more striking than the last.
The only dilemma I face is not having enough time to replicate every one of them. Sigh.
I will have to pick up a copy of WD, I haven’t looked at one for years, but with all of this wonderful inspiration I can’t wait to flip through the pages! I love that wreath!
I hope you both have a wonderful weekend!

Eddie and Jaithan,
Very impressive work for Woman’s Day. Love the gratitude wreath. Very elegant with natural materials. Completely love the rustic with the elegance it is captivating. Neutrals done in a pattern and in volume make such an impact. The splatter pumpkins also were fab, simple and elegant all rolled into one. Congrats on such great work. Always very inspiring to visit you.
