Jaithan and I are off to Orlando today for the Renningers Antiques Extravaganza, one of my favorite flea markets in the South!
We're on the hunt for hidden gems, diamonds in the rough and forgotten treasures to make new again. From sofas to salt cellars and everything in between, I'm a man on a mission, and it's all part of a new flea market makeover column I'm doing for Southern Living called In with the Old. My first story is due out in May!
So follow me on Twitter for all the action from the flea market as it unfolds. I want to hear from you when I'm on the front lines what to make over for the magazine! And finally, the million dollar question: What's your favorite flea market in the South I should be visiting this year?
Nashville Flea Market! It is rustic, with a side of grit and dash of sparkle. The vendors are without a doubt the best part. They might be decked out in faded overalls, but are knowledgeable and will dare you to swindle them.

Congratulations on your new SL column! I look forward to your reading the first one in May.
Oh what fun y’all are gonna have! I hope you find some good Southern finds, corn muffin cast iron molds, along with a pitcher for ice cold tea and a butter mold….maybe even some old petticoats….
Show us please….pretty please!

Too funny. I was suppose to go to Rennigar’s this year with my dear friend, Amy – but new puppy is keeping me in NYC. ENJOY! See you soon at the Chelsea Garage! -Wendy
Eddie this is the smartest thing Southern Living has done. Can’t wait to read all about it! Congrats!
Glad to see there is an attempt to liven up Southern Living. If anyone can do it, you can… Y’all have fun.
Renninger’s Antiques Extravaganza is great! I was there for the January show. Can’t wait to see your column.
In Atlanta of course there is Scotts Antique Market held once a month. But an annual market I love in Atlanta is the Forward Arts Foundation’s Flea Market. The Forward Arts Foundation was founded decades ago by 12 of Atlanta’s most prominent women. All their activities (including the Swan Coach House restaurant and art gallery) benefit the High Museum of Art and the Atlanta History Center. Their annual flea market often has the contents of a few wonderful Atlanta estates. There are always treasures. Prices are very good. It is a great sale! If you pay $30 or so to go to the preview party you get first dibs. I have never gone to the preview and still found great stuff.
Eddie,
You must visit the Fancy Flea Vintage Home & Garden Market this April! It is held in Downtown Lakeland, Florida in the spring and fall. Oodles of good stuff. The next one is April 30th from 9-4. It was featured in Romantic Country’s latest edition…take a look! By the way…you are one of my most favorite blogs!
We’re waiting for you at the Raleigh Flea Market at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds!
Cheers, Barbara.
Not a new idea but I’d love to see what you come up with at Scott’s in Atlanta!

What a fun title! I look forward to reading your column. You are always so generous with your advice. Thank you for sharing. I love how you redo objects to be both useful and decorative–not just trinkets or showpieces.
Have you made a tour of Canton, Texas? It’s a must see. You’ll love it.

Congratulations Eddie! I can’t wait for my Southern Living to arrive each month. I’ve actually been asked to be a Southern Living panelist. You’re such a STAR!
I was thrilled when I found out you two were in the same area that we were vacationing. I told my husband and he said he saw you two at the gas station, ha.
Eddie, I look forward to reading your article in May. I hear great things abut Round Top in TX. I got stuck in Ft. Myers and unable to make it to Renninger’s this weekend, so I enjoyed seeing your updates. I look forward to reading all the southern flea market suggestions as I am a prop shopper for The Display Lab and my client “wish lists” are getting long!
Regards,
Becky Tyre, Retail Details blog
Congratulations! I’m a SL subscriber from way back so I look forward to seeing your column in the May issue!

Congrats on your new column! I love the Nashville Flea Market. Great mix of styles and one special vendor named Steele. It’s worth the trip just to visit him. I live in Lexington, KY and would organize a group from KY to come shop with you.
I can’t wait to join you guys at Round Top in March! So excited to see what we can find.
My last two postings were on Scott’s in Atlanta. It’s one of my favorites.

BOYCOTT AMERICAN WOMEN
Why American men should boycott American women
http://boycottamericanwomen.blogspot.com/
I am an American man, and I have decided to boycott American women. In a nutshell, American women are the most likely to cheat on you, to divorce you, to get fat, to steal half of your money in the divorce courts, donβt know how to cook or clean, donβt want to have children, etc. Therefore, what intelligent man would want to get involved with American women?
American women are generally immature, selfish, extremely arrogant and self-centered, mentally unstable, irresponsible, and highly unchaste. The behavior of most American women is utterly disgusting, to say the least.
This blog is my attempt to explain why I feel American women are inferior to foreign women (non-American women), and why American men should boycott American women, and date/marry only foreign (non-American) women.
BOYCOTT AMERICAN WOMEN!
