Just back from Orlando and a whirlwind trip through Renniger's in Mt. Dora!

This was one of three antiques extravaganzas a year with vendors as far as the eye could see.

As a hoarder collector of good vintage serving pieces, I loved this table for its unusual mix of materials, like brass, sterling, silverplate, bone and Bakelite.

From here, I plucked three gleaming treasures, all of them twisted! First, there was a set of brass and teak salad servers, probably from the 60s, with a cool, Danish modern feel. I must still have Florida on the brain because I'm already dreaming of warm weather entertaining and everything I'll serve with them, like grilled meats, vegetables and other side dishes. Next, I scored a twisted silverplate ladle with a wonderful gold wash perfect for serving a chilled summer soup like minted pea or yellow tomato gazpacho. And finally, I found an unusual English silverplate strainer ladle with a twisted handle, like an old piece of Tiffany rope jewelry for the table. This I might use for serving gourmet maraschino cherries at a build your own sundae bar come summer.

Summer? Keep dreaming, Ross, and while your at it, rake the snow from the roof.
