Half-past seven and we're already late. Dealers had been there since dawn, we're told, hovering like vultures as the trucks roll in. It's load-in day at Scott's in Atlanta. We're in town shooting a story for Southern Living when I happen upon this pretty thing.
Not terribly old, but stylish nonetheless. Neutral, mostly, with subtle shades of coral and blue. Big, too: about 8 x 10. "How much?" I ask.
"Two and a quarter."
"As in $225?" You can't even get a sisal from Pottery Barn for that price.
Now if it only fit in the overhead bin…
Wow that is a great deal! Struggling with jealousy over here. 😉
some may say what … only 2.25 …
score, you did!!
Very nice! Too good to pass up. Good luck getting it home!
Pretty rug, pretty good deal! I love the pale colors with the blue. Score!
That will be a most versatile and pretty rug! Good eye!
Now that is a bargin!
Score! That coral and blue beauty is worth the extra baggage fees!
Love the way you pack and love what you put in your luggage. What a great piece!!! Another treasure for Eddie!!! Kathysue
Y’all are so funny! I love how you just stomp it into the suitcase. And, yes, that rug was a steal!!!
That is hilarious. I’m just impressed the rug fit in that bag at all!!! What a find!
Ummmm…..I would leave my shoes in the hotel to be able to squeeze that into my carry-on!
LOL…I am glad I am not the only one that packs like that!
Now THAT is a story to put a smile on anyone’s dial (-:
What a fun bargain!
Beautiful, Eddie! You got a great deal. I had to laugh at you trying to stuff this in your carry-on bag!
Wow, great eye Eddie and great find! You will have to show us where it lands, your magic carpet!
Funny…it will fit..I flew a few weeks ago and I cannot believe what people will shove into the overhead bins!! If not, wear it as a shawl 🙂
Lucky, lucky you!!
I’ve seen so many great rugs in my neighborhhood now I want to go back and ask “how much?” too.
Don’t you just love that feeling you get when you score a deal like that? You must still be on a high……k
They say it is all in the hunt, but the rewards are pretty good too. Nice score!
Love that rug! Good buy.
It’s a great day in Atlanta! I say that is probably the cost of S& H on most big rugs!
Oh my. That is my favorite color combination. You really scored big on this one. Must tell you I am really enjoying your Woman’s Day spread. You are so very talented!!! ~~Sherry~~
I just love this rug. What a steal. I might have had to fight you for it. I can’t wait to see where it ends up.
What a steal! I’ve looking for an older rug like that, but in an orange colorway and it’s been almost impossible. The prices are crazy. Whenever I find one I love it’s the thousands.
what a steal. gotta love scott’s. I can tell from your photo that is the exact spot in which I loaded up the french chest I bought at scott’s last fall. I’m dying to get back…

Gorgeous rug! I love that is has soft, muted colors! I cannot believe the deal you got! I need to go shopping with you.
Hey, how come that wasn’t there back in Feb when I was at Scotts! Anyway, don’t know if remember the $3 brass/wood martini table I had at my house – well I found the exact match at Scotts for $15 – couldn’t believe it. They called it a 1960’s telephone book table.
You can’t even seed your lawn for that! I went back a few posts. Loved the Carlton V window. Yes, fearless is my mantra. It is beautiful.
What fun to score so big on such a fabulous find!
What a great find. That rug is AMAZING. LOVE THOSE WONDERFUL COLORS.
What a great find! I just love Scotts. I need to make it down there more often. ANd I love the fact that you are shoving it into your suitcase….every designer can relate!!!
Now that’s my kind of carry on luggage…great find!!
Oh, BTW, I forgot to thank you for your VERY sweet and kind words about Peyton’s Sweet Shoppe Party. You made my day!
Be still, my heart….
Got to make a road trip!
Awesome. Nice faded colors, will work with anything. Would look especially awesome on a bright aqua painted floor.

Beautiful and a great buy! You can’t beat that!
You’re that person!!! The one who makes everyone on the plane roll their eyes while you try to stuff your oversize bag in the overhead compartment! Ahhaaha lol!! I would be too for a great bargain! Great find. Where’s it going?

That picture of the rug in the suitcase made me smile. You may have to buy more suitcases before it’s over with.
Have a fabulous weekend!
Look at that happpy face on you…great buy and a definite score!
I am so there in April! Sorry we missed you, though. The Jr. League of Birmingham is doing a “Destination Divas” trip and a friend invited me to join them. It would have been perfect if we could have meet you on our trip! M.
I love your smile with the carpet on your shoulder.
It’s a beautiful rug, and trying to squeeze it in the suitcase is something that I would be doing to 🙂
WOW!! That truly was a steal of a deal!!
And oh so pretty too!
It was Malaysia, it was 1973, I was very pregnant with my second child and a rug salesman talked us into a beautiful rug. So we packed it into a suitcase and lugged it back to Honolulu. Thanks for reminding me of that great rug. I think it is somewhere here in my house?
Score times 10!!! I must get to Scott’s earlier….what have I been thinking 🙂
Gogerous! http://www.bosi-carpet.com http://www.goldensilkroad.com
I live in the Atlanta suburbs, south of airport, and my friends and I try to make it to Scott’s each month. It usually ends up being every other. Fantastic deals to be found. Would have loved to have been there and met you! Maybe one day. Have you eaten at the “soul food” counter and had one of the hand dipped chocolate milkshakes at the ice cream/popcorn booth? Both to die for!!
