Despite the lingering chill, things are finally looking up.
Delayed gratification, however, is not one of my strengths.
As an editor, styling shoots for magazines, I'm always on the lookout for unusual vessels that might elevate even the most ordinary blooms. In a Chinoiserie transferware sugar pot from an antique mall in Ohio, I made a simple arrangement of grocery store daffodils, photographed by our newest collaborator in residence, Babs Perkins. Their stems are secured with crumpled chicken wire beneath. Happy Monday, everyone!
Happy Spring to you and J! I am loving seeing all the tulips in the stores and pussy-willows!

I don’t have patience for flowers either! Yesterday our grocery had daffodils, a bunch of 10 for 1.99! I bought 3 and plopped them in a chipped white enamel pitcher. They are currently being beautifully reflected in the mirror above my fireplace. I LOVE THEM!
BTW, If it doesn’t rain tomorrow, I’m going to my favorite antique store to shoot some photos for my blog. The owner is a sweet/sour 😉 man with horders syndrome. Most of the time you CAN NOT walk into the store. You HAVE to see all the goodies he has…unbelievable!
Trader Joe’s has bunches of daffodils for $1.29. What is Spring without a sweet bouquet?
Finally my daffodils are coming up too- it has been a chilly Spring!!! Love your blog- you are very talented.
We are still waiting for Mother Nature to show up here and grace us with some spring sun, temperatures, and love. If you see her be sure to send her my way, I am done with the snow. Happy Monday.
Eddie
Thanks for the bouquet of sunshine.
Happy Monday to you too!
LOL!
No, me neither, however…. I do love to watch all the flowers bloom, the daily peek at the progress is almost as satisfying as the full bloom!!
Northern Light
There is nothing like seeing green pop through dirt 🙂 My friend and I both planted lots of new things in our garden a few years back (this will be the third year the newer items are coming up). I never knew the saying:
First year they sleep, second year they creep, third year they leap.
Well, they better leap this year, lol! I mean waiting this long for the fruits of some very physical labor definitely requires a big show as far as I’m concerned.
Soon I hope!xx

Crumpled chicken wire. Great idea! Beautiful yellow daffodils.
Spring has arrived in London and my daffodils are sadly on their way out already 🙁
I’m already eyeing up more bulbs to plant for instant gratification!
I love the arrangement. I’m thinking of doing a daffodil arrangement for Mother’s Day on Sunday. Thank you for your kind comment the other day – it meant a great deal.
xx
Stunning. I have a few vintage vases that serve the same purpose. Just a few flowers from my garden and voila: the blooms look spectacular. I adore you and your site, by the way. You are such an inspiration.
Beautiful! I need to remember the crumbled chicken wire tip.
Eddie-I loved the daffodils–thanks for brightening my day!!I’m writing to you from London, Ontario–where we still have lots of snow!!! Nancy
I definitely need to bring vases to the hospital! the uniform, huge, bulky glass vases do no good to whatever bouquet!
I did not know about the importance of vases before.
Oh Eddie you’ve done it again. Two of my favorite things–black and white and daffodils. I wish they could live forever in that pot!!
Gorgeous, per usual.
I’m lovin’ this happy little arrangement! Thanks for the touch of spring.
Now that would just look perfect in my entry hall on my black marble table!!! I love what you do with your vessels and flowers, always an inspiration!!!xo Kathysue
Oboy those daffys look great! Long live spring and gorgeous vases to put spring blooms in….!
Hello and thank you for this burst of yellow sunshine! The arrangement is lovely – reminds me of Easter. We had a long flower bed of daffodils at my childhood home in Sweden, and each year I got the pleasure of cutting a big bunch for our Easter buffet for my mother. I loved that job! 🙂
Big hugs to you and J.

Absolutely stunning. I had forgot about using chicken wire in containers. My Grandmother used that back in the 60’s when she was entering flower shows. ~~Sherry~~
Love it! Why wait if you don’t have to. Of course, you always know how to “take it up a notch”!!!
Safe travels to Texas!!!
xoxo Elizabeth
Happy spring, darlings!
How classic, how gorgeous. Love the chicken wire tip. Here’s hoping the close of March takes the cold with it! Have a great week, too 🙂
Beautiful…greetings from UK-here working until 1st April. xxpeggybraswelldesign.com
That gorgeous arrangement just brightened my entire day! xoxoo, P
Eddie, Are you still in your home in the country? If so, we would love to see some updated photos.

As always Eddie, you have created a burst of sunshine!
Good mOrning my friend….now if we can just create some warmth and a visit!
I do my sugar bowl arrangements with tape. It works really well. We’ve got plenty of daffys in N.C. Hope to run into you at market again.
Best,
Liz
I have to laugh with you on delayed gratification not one of your strengths, I’m the same way! Perhaps, it is your only flaw, if one shall call it that?! I love how you took grocery store daffodils and created a gorgeous centerpiece…honestly, you are the best!
Lovely! I am in DESPERATE need of some spring – for real.
Best,
Colleen
Bight yellow is what we all need for today. Great to meet Babs.

That was definitely the right vessel. Beautiful picture…k
ohh
what are yellow flowers… marvelous
How come your daffodils are so much taller than mine?? I’m only in the next state and farther south and still waiting for blooms. Gorgeous bouquet and vase – all for instant gratification.
So pretty…nothing screams “spring” like daffodils!
I need to remember
to shop at fleas and
antique malls with
“Eddie eyes!” Your
whole team made this
image sing. Hope you
are all enjoying a
sunny day!

The flowers are so lovely, they almost look fake!
I am always on the look out for transfer ware, it can be an addiction!
Have a fabulous day!

i can’t wait until my tulips bloom! too bad they are covered in an inch of snow? but hopefully that was the last of it. on with spring.
containers are one of my weaknesses … on the hunt for zinc at the moment … can’t wait to hit Kane this weekend.
you’ve captured my heart … a.g.a.i.n.
Ha, I’m the same – no delayed gratification when it comes to flowers! Just what I needed to see – lovely yellow! Cheers me up everytime.
