We were awakened Friday from our gluttonous stupor by the sound of two men in a truck, dumping a cord of wood on our front lawn. That’s 4 x 4 x 8 or 128 cubic feet—plenty to keep our fires stoked during the harsh winter months. (Did I mention it snowed on Easter?) In my haste, however, I’d neglected to ask the two men in the truck whether they’d stack the wood upon delivery. In their haste, they wouldn’t. Thankfully, our house guests chipped in, creating two pretty piles on the porch. We might have even worked off some of that pumpkin cheesecake, too.
