If you haven’t seen the new issue of Better Homes and Gardens, I have a fun, little story on how to throw a festive holiday fete with plenty of party flourishes to impress even your most finicky guests. It’s everything you need to throw a stylish holiday cocktail party with quick and easy crafts you can make yourself. My favorite? Festive stars made from drinking straws. I used them to embellish a punch bowl, but they’ll shine just as brightly on a tree.
If you’re long on style but short on time (anyone?), skip the hot hors d’oeuvres in favor of room-temperature foods. My go-to menu: herbed popcorn, spiced nuts, wontons, crudités and a cheese sampler that’s simple and chic.
Happy Hostessing, everyone!
Happy to see that you are back to blogging! I have my copy of this mag and plan to open it this weekend!!
branches, blooms, cheese…..I’ll be there.

Reading it right now!!! (Do you ever take a bad photo – seriously! I bet you were that child whose face stood out from all the rest in the class pic!)
E&J SO glad to see you posting again! I loved your Country Living feature and will have to check this one out as well.
It was great catching up with you guys at the Biltmore house. I am so excited for all of the wonderful things you have going on!

Those paper snowflakes are exactly the thing I need for a tablescape I have to do at my church next Tuesday. Downloading the template now. Thank you, thank you! Glad you’re back to blogging.
Eddie and Jaithan I have missed you both so much! I wondered what had happened and thought you were probably working on some big projects!
I received my Better Homes and Gardens yesterday! So fun to see you there!

So nice to hear from you, Eddie! You are one of my favorite designers and stylists–so creative! Glad you enjoyed the potato pancake recipe I shared. And what a lovely spread you’ve put together here for BHG–I will be looking for this issue. Turquoise, red and white–just gorgeous! We’re thinking about doing a holiday song sing-a-long afternoon tea, and I will keep your ideas in mind for making it easy 🙂 I’ve spent the last 2 days decorating, and I’m still not done. Hope to finish up over the weekend.
Great to see you boys blogging again — you’ve been missed! Just picked up this issue and getting to settle in with a glass of wine to peruse it (with your article being my first read, of course!)
